Camed is the third-largest distributor of pharmaceutical products in Mali and the market leader in generic drugs. The sector is dominated by two subsidiaries of multinational groups based in France. There are 300 to 400 dispensaries in Mali, mainly situated in Bamako.
Over the past three years Camed has pursued its transformation from a generic drugs distributor to a universal distributor, and now offers a highly diversified product range. This transformation has required a restructuring of the business, advised and assisted by I&P which has organised several technical assistance missions.
Sales revenue rose 16% in 2008 and net earnings rose 50%.
