The Laiterie du Berger, is one of the only Senegalese companies making dairy products from fresh locally-produced milk. Its products, now distributed through more than 1,000 retail outlets, face strong competition from products manufactured from imported milk powder.
In 2009, the product range was rejuvenated and relaunched under the Dolima brand label. The relaunch was used to improve the taste, texture, packaging and marketing of the company’s products. This important upgrading operation was strongly supported by technical assistance provided by Danone Communities, which is also a shareholder with a 25% stake. Since the launch of the Dolima range, sales have been growing well, a trend which should continue in 2010.
